After one year...

Jastrzębski Węgiel shocked Polish League!!! Pavel ABRAMOV is our new player!!!

Nobody expected that. It is the big surprise for the world of volleyball and the hit of transfers in this season. We hope he will be a new leader of Jastrzębski.

Agata Mróz was talented volleyball player. She won twice Championship Europe. She played in the best teams in Poland and in Spain.
But first of all she was great woman. Agata struggled against the serious disease. She gave birth a daughter in April. In last month took place her bone marrow transplant... Doctors hoped for the best but it was a serious operation.

She died 4 June. Agata orphaned daughter, Liliana...

Last events

The season draw to an end. It's time for summary last months...

Firstly- Poland Cup (I hope it's correctly: Poland Cup)

At the beginning Jastrzębski Węgiel played with Resovia Rzeszów. It was a good match which we won 3:1 (25:17, 25:15, 20:25, 25:11).

Our following opponent was Skra Bełchatów. This club got national championship three times in last years. It promised to be good match. Luckily WE are the winners:) But it was very hard...
Jastrzębie won 3:2 (25:19, 25:15, 17:25,20:25, 15:12)

It was the first final of Poland Cup for Jastrzębie so our victory in semifinal was the great success. What a pity that we lost with AZS Częstochowa... Unfortunately it was short of power.
But I want to congratulate our team. They played very good and showed that they were a real team.

Tournaments

We are having now a break in our league. So, it's a time when clubs play in tournament. Jastrzębski Węgiel also took part in ones.

First, we played in Fortis Cup. This tournament is organised by Noliko Maaseik. Jastrzębski after good match won second place.

Second, Jastrzębie participated in tournament in Będzin. Unfortunately, two losses (with ZAKSA Kędzierzyn Koźle and with Domex AZS Częstochowa) determined fourth place... :(

The weakness of Jastrzębski Węgiel

On Tuesday Jastrzębski Węgiel struggled against AZS Częstochowa. The supporters of this teams have been at war since a long time so the matches are always very emotional. We urged Jastrzębie on but our team lost 3:1.

It was very weak match of Jastrzębski Węgiel. The first set was enough good. Jastrzębie was a equal rival for Częstochowa. The fight was fierce. The players didn't give any ball a miss. The difficult services made it possible for Jastrzębski to win.

The rest of the match belonged to Częstochowa. The host played much better than Jastrzębie. We weren't able to manage with the strong, determined services of Częstochowa. As a matter of fact Jastrzębie hadn't a good reception. And we were blocked by our opponents. Oh, it was a really nightmare! Jastrzębski made many mistakes in the attack.

Robert Prygiel, our spiker, plays recently very weakly. He can't manage with block. Robert too often dribbles instead of attack and the opponents know he can do it. The coach Roberto Santilli must deals with him. Maybe it's only an issue of the psyche but that shouldn't happen. Prygiel have been out of shape since two months. It is worrying...

Jastrzębski Węgiel still without win in Champions League

Last Wednesday Jastrzębski Węgiel played against Sisley Treviso. Jastrzębie surprised everyone who expected the quick defeat of Jastrzębski Węgiel. The players gave their all and were close to win. Unfortunately, they lost 3:2...

The match took place in the new gym (actually it was an ice rink :/) because our own gym ("Kurnik":D) is too small for Champions League. By contrast:

Our former coach Tomaso Totolo (photo) had to be very surprised that we have so large and roomy gym :)

The beginning of the match gave a hope to the supporters. Jastrzębie played very good and was leading 6:3! But we played with famous Sisley... It is one of the best teams in my opinion. They got it together and came back to the game. Jastrzębski Węgiel, however, stopped dead. I don't know, maybe the fighting spirit was lacking, maybe the leader was missing (Robert Prygiel, our spiker, was out of shape)...

Both the first set and the second were a total domination of the Italian team. There were the moments when Jastrzębie scoreda couple of points in a row but it was too little to Jastrzębie won.

The supporters didn't lose hope and we were right: Jastrzębski Węgiel won two next set! The large part of the wins can be credited to Evgeni Ivanov and Igor Yudin.

Igor played amazingly: good block, good reception and good attack. But it is annoyingly for me when... Ok, sometimes I think he attacks a little bit blindly. When he see a three-man block he should feint or try use the block but he risk and he's blocked.

Evgeni also played very good. He's a great blocker. His behaviour appeals to me: he demands from the supporters really loud cheers. And I can tell that he didn't become disillusioned :)

Wojciech Jurkiewicz (also blocker) played flawlessly! Ok, he had a some errors in the block but he hadn't the failed services or the errors in the attack.

The tie-break was a total disaster! jastrzębie wasn't able to come back to the game. We made many mistakes and we lost 15:8. What a pity... Jastrzębski Węgiel was able to win. Sisley played weaker than usually. Jastrzębie had a chance of winning. Unfortunately, Jastrzębski also played weak...

I hope Jastrzębie will play better in the next match with Sisley Treviso and Jastrzębie will win...

The last matches of Jastrzębski Węgiel

Jastrzębski Węgiel vs PGE Skra Bełchatów

It's a pity that Jastrzębie lost. It have been the best match since a long time. Jastrzębie played very, very good, they fought a equivalent duel with Bełchatów. The enough weak services determinated the loss. Unfortunately, the referee made few "mistakes" (but the supporters of Jastrzębski Węgiel are accustomed to that..) Maybe it seems that I'm not objective but even a sports commentator paid attention to him...

Anyway I think Jastrzębie began to become a real team. Last season was a defeat because of too many stars in the team. Every one of them wanted to be a leader. Luckily, Jastrzębski Węgiel is being now a team with a ambitious and hard-working (at least: some players are hard-working ;P) players. I believe they will show that they can achieve a great deal.

It was a strange match. I don't know what I should think about it. Hmm, the game was uneven. For example: the first set a enough good but the second... Well, we weren't in little short of the emotions. It was a very fierce match. Roberto Santilli, coach of Jastrzębie, got very upset. Finally he showed his Italian origins:) The previous coach Tomaso Totolo accustomed us to such behaviour ;P

I was really angry about 5th set. Many, too many failed services and we lost...
But overall, the situation looks good. The team take shape:)

We won. Jastrzębski Węgiel didn't play sensationally but I understand that. The atmosphere was sleepy, the emotions were lacking... Płomień demonstrated a good play but it was many mistakes. The match lasted for an hour and to be honest, many supporters were complaining about the boredom but I think there were a few interesting actions.

Bad News from Italy

Yesterday the Polish supporters found out about an injury of Łukasz Kadziewicz.

"Kadziu" is a basic player in our national team. Together with Daniel Pliński they are the best pair of blockers in the world. He is the ex-player in Jastrzębski Węgiel. Currently Łukasz is playing in Sparkling Milano (Italy). Unfortunately, last Wednesday he broke a leg...

According to the Italian commentators Kadziewicz broke a leg during a morning training. He played in the first set in the match with Copra Volley Piacenza but because of the ache he left the court. Łukasz most probably don't play in this year...

The injury of Kadziewicz is a blow to our national team but also (or rather first of all) to the Polish supporters. He is a favourite volleyballer for many fans. Actually Łukasz is the very controversial person and you like him or not but you can't be indifferent to him. I like him very much because he is a nice, frank and wise man. I hope that he will recover as soon as possible...

The beginning of new season

The first match of KS Jastrzębski Węgiel took place in Bydgoszcz (on Monday). Our opponent was Delecta Bydgoszcz. Jastrzębie won but I think that they played very poorly, below their abilities... It was many failed services, attacks, they didn't play in block. Roberto Santilli (coach) said that it had been bad match.

The first and second set... It was total defeat. Bydgoszcz played without complex, they had a good reception of service. I couldn't recognized Jastrzębski Węgiel!
Fortunately, from the third set everything changed. Jastrzębie improved. They won the fourth set. 25:12! The match ended with the win of Jastrzębski Węgiel 3:2.

I believe that Dawid Murek was our best player. He played evenly all the time. (Dawid is a new captain of the team) Igor Yudin was also very effective. In tie-break we took the lead after his service. Personally, I enjoyed the cooperation between Nikolay Ivanov and the blockers Patryk Czarnowski and Wojciech Jurkiewicz. I hope in next match will be better.

KS Jastrzębski Węgiel before the new season

Last Wednesday a sparring match took place in Jastrzębie. KS Jastrzębski Węgiel entertained Noliko Maaseik (Belgium). Despite defeat they put up a pretty good show. Robert Prygiel (10) was in very good form. Igor Yudin (5) demonstrated also quite some play. Nikolay Ivanov (12) cooperated with ours middle blockers: Patryk Czarnowski (9) and Wojciech Jurkiewicz (4). Unfortunately too many small faults and a lot of failed services led up to defeat.

The plague of contusions in the national team

Approaching the European Championship in Moscow will take place in two weeks. Meanwhile the polish competitors are plagued by the contusions...

MARIUSZ WLAZŁY who is our basic player, complain about cramps in calf. He asked Raul Lozano (the coach of national team) for exclusion from the team for the championship in September. He suffered from cramps for long time but thanks to accupuncture the pains ceased. Unfortunately, the injury returned during the final tournament of World League in Katowice. Mariusz will go to Spain where he is going to be examined by the best specialists.

The next contestant with contusion is PIOTR GRUSZKA. He has a valuable experience and because of absence of Mariusz Wlazły he was going to be a reserve spiker. Sadly, during the match with Serbia he fell down and sprained his ankle. The injury disqualified Piotr from the championship.

GRZEGORZ SZYMAŃSKI gave supporters a scare when the ache in his knee returned. Luckily, Grzegorz said that his health was all right.

Due to lack of a second spiker Robert Prygiel who early resigned from preparation for the European Championship, joined the others players in Spała. Polish Competitors have the tournament in Paris ahead of them, then they go to Moscow. Hopefully without new contusions...
